CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, January 23, 2006) - Chivas USA traded its number-one draft pick in the 2006 Major League Soccer SuperDraft for the MetroStars number-five pick and for defender Jason Hernández. The Red-and-White also acquired forward Sacha Kljestan from Seton Hall University for its number-five pick and UCLA forward Jonathan Bornstein for its 37th pick. Chivas USA will initiate medical and physical exams on Monday, January 30 and will commence preseason training on Tuesday, February 1. Chivas USA will make its debut in the 2006 MLS season on Sunday April 2, at The Home Depot Center when it takes on Real Salt Lake. PREKI JOINS COACHING STAFF: Chivas USA announced the addition of Preki, one of the most distinguished players in the history of Major League Soccer, as Assistant to Head Coach Bob Bradley. Preki, who ended his playing career just last year (2005) after 10 years in Major League Soccer, joins Chivas USA's coaching staff immediately after having participated in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

CHIVAS USA'S NEW UNIFORM UNVEILED: Chivas USA's new uniform, along with those of 10 other Major League Soccer teams were presented by adidas in a ceremony before last week's 2006 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The most notable innovation of the Red-and-White's 2006 kits are the stripes and colors which have been aligned with those of Chivas Guadalajara. adidas also manufactured Chivas USA's uniforms in its inaugural season, 2005.

GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Club Deportivo Guadalajara are in Santiago, Chile where they will face off against Chilean powerhouse Colo Colo on Tuesday, January 24, at 5:00 p.m. PT, 10:00 p.m. (Local Time), for a spot in this year's Copa Libertadores. Chivas Guadalajara earned half a ticket to the South American tournament by finishing second in the third annual InterLiga 2006. Chivas de Guadalajara will be hosting Pumas de la UNAM on Saturday, January 28, at 4:00 p.m. PT at the Jalisco Stadium in the second date of the Mexican 2006 Clausura. Club Guadalajara will also be making a special presentation celebrating the clubs 100 years of franchise history.

‘SOMOS CHIVAS USA': Chivas USA's weekly television show ‘Somos Chivas USA' is heading into its fourth episode this Saturday, January 28. The show will be broadcast at 1:30 p.m. PT on Spanish-language station KAZA Azteca 54 along with anchorman Ramón Diaz. The weekly show will feature guest appearances, interviews and special reports on everything related to Chivas USA.
