CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013) - Chivas USA announced today the contract extension of defender Bobby Burling through the end of the 2015 season. Per Major League Soccer and club policies, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

"For us it's a joy to be able to count on Bobby being here for the next two seasons," said Director of Soccer Francisco "Paco" Palencia. "He's someone that displays a level of professionalism, is a quality player, and above all has supported the team - because he is a person with experience that knows the club and the League very well. It's a great thing for us that he has signed with the club and that he will be a part of the team for the next two years."

"Obviously I have a special place in me for this club," Burling said. "It's the second time I've been here and there are a lot of familiar faces. I just want to be part of the re-building process and I'm excited to be able to stay in L.A. and be a part of the turnaround of this club."

Burling first joined the Red-and-White in 2007 after being drafted by the LA Galaxy in the League's Supplemental Draft. In nearly three seasons with the Goats, the Loyola Marymount graduate appeared in 23 games before moving on to the San Jose Earthquakes.

In 2011, the Montreal Impact selected Burling in the MLS Expansion Draft, but before joining the Canadian side in its inaugural season, Chivas USA re-acquired the center back's rights via trade. Since his return with the Red-and-White, Burling has become an important piece on Chivas' defensive line, having logged a total of 19 games in 1,336 minutes during the 2013 campaign.

Burling and the Rojiblancos will next face Western Conference foe the Portland Timbers at the StubHub Center on Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (PT) to close out their two-game homestand. The match will be the second of three meetings between the clubs and will be televised in English on KDOC and in Spanish on MundoFOX 22. The game will also be broadcasted in Spanish on W Radio 690 AM.
