Chivas USA sets MLS record in team sponsorship
CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, June 15, 2005) - Chivas USA announced today that it has set the all-time standard in sponsorship for Major League Soccer teams in its inaugural season in MLS, signing a series of partnership agreements with 12 world-class companies. This list is led by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., whose local sponsorship deal is the most comprehensive in MLS history. This multi-year partnership between Honda and Chivas USA spans a variety of marketing platforms.
These platforms include exclusive sponsorship of the Chivas Hall of Fame in ChivaTown, which displays the history of Chivas Guadalajara and Chivas USA at every home game; the ChivaKids program, which invites 50 underprivileged children to enjoy each Chivas USA home game; a comprehensive media package that incorporates Honda into Chivas USA's broadcasts on such outlets as FSN West/West 2 and KAZA Azteca América 54 (television) and Radiovisa 830 AM (radio); and a season-long sweepstakes in which one fan will take home a 2006 Honda Ridgeline at the end of the 2005 campaign (fans can sign up in the Soccer Fest area on the north side of The Home Depot Center at every Chivas USA home game).
The Honda deal also includes sponsorship of the 'Honda Super Clasico Series' between Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy, the first intra-city rivalry in modern U.S. professional soccer. At the conclusion of this four-match series, the winningest team will be awarded a unique trophy, as will the series MVP. Honda is also the Official Automobile of Chivas USA, while the Honda Ridgeline is the Official Truck of Chivas USA.
In addition, Chivas USA is proud to receive support from 'Founding Partners' Bank of America (Official Bank of Chivas USA), Chivas Regal (Official Premium Spirit of Chivas USA), DirecTV Para Todos (Official Satellite Television provider of Chivas USA), McDonald's (Official Hamburger of Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center) and The Home Depot (Official Home Improvement Store of Chivas USA).
