CARSON, CA. (Tuesday, February 7, 2012) - Chivas USA fall to their Western Conference rival, the Colorado Rapids 0-1, at The Home Depot Center's practice field #4 during a pre-season match this afternoon.

It was an overcast afternoon in Carson as the Goats faced the Colorado Rapids in their third pre-season match this year. Coach Fraser's starting XI was solid and on the constant attack. Ryan Smith had a tremendous left footed shot in the 42nd minute that would hit off the post, and that clearly shows the Englishman is more and more comfortable with his new squad. This would mark the end of the first half with a score of 0-0.

In the second half, similar to other games for Coach Fraser, we have seen a secondary squad that includes a wide range of trialists, academy stand outs and a few veterans. It can easily be said that this is the tale of two teams, the first half team is one that according to Coach Fraser will resemble a starting XI for the Goats, well as in the second half, there are a handful of players that are competing for a place on this 2012 Chivas USA roster. We would see shots on goal from Cesar Romero in the 49th minute, Chris Cortez in the 68th, as well as a play we don't get to see too often, a free kick inside the small box that resulted in a missed shot for the Red and White in the 75th minute.

The Rapids would take the definitive lead in the 85th minute as forward Quincy Amarikwa would score the game's only goal on a cross pass assist from Steven Emory.

The Rojiblancos now get ready to travel back to Ventura County once again this Saturday afternoon for their match against the Chicago Fire at Oxnard College Soccer Stadium, scheduled for 12 noon.
