St. Charles, Mo. - The Chill battled back from a first period 2-0 deficit to take a 3-2 lead early in the third on the first goal of the season for Sean Muncy, but the Beast retaliated with three goals in a four minute period to pull out a 5-3 win.
Brampton (17-14-2) took a 2-0 lead midway through the opening period and held that lead despite being outshot 15-4. St. Charles (8-22-4) set the franchise record for shots in a single game with 40 tonight as they stormed back in the second period.
John Snowden scored his second with the Chill on assist from Nicklas Lindberg and David Strathman to close the score to 2-1 midway through the second period. The score remained until the early stages of the third period.
The Chill tied the game at 2-2 just over two minutes into the final period on a wrist shot from Jordan Fox from just inside the blue line. Martin Hlinka and Kyle O'Kane picked up the assist on the goal before Muncy gave St. Charles the lead. Steve Anthony and Muncy put pressure on Beast goalie Grant Rollheiser forcing him into a turnover and Muncy buried the loose puck for a 3-2 Chill lead.
Brampton would tie the score at 3-3 in the middle of the third on a penalty shot from Scott Howes before the Beast took the lead 4-3 and put the game away at 5-3 with just under six minutes remaining.
The Chill are back on the ice Wednesday night against the Denver Cutthroats with the puck drop set for 7:05 and hat trick draft beers all night.
