Quad City's Thomas Heemskerk Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (January 7, 2014) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Quad City Mallards goaltender Thomas Heemskerk has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 5, 2014.

The Chilliwack, British Columbia native won both of his starts stopping 60 of 62 shots (.968 save percentage). He earned his second shutout of the season on Saturday in St. Charles with a 29-save effort. His first game of the week was on Monday where he stopped 31 shots in a 3-2 win in Brampton. The win gave the Mallards a three-game sweep of the Beast in their series in Ontario.

Heemskerk is 9-1-3 on the season with a 2.50 goals against average (second in the CHL) and a .919 save percentage (fourth in the CHL).
