Johnstown Chiefs News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs had an eventful week this week with season ticket holders signing up for the 2009-10 season, announcing both returning and new players, and a press conference just this morning.
As the start of the season closes in, more work still needs to be done in order to meet the community challenge the Chiefs issued on September 15. It was a strong week, though, with 19 new season tickets sold. Krisay's Appliance and Bedding is the latest new season ticket holder to become a part of Chiefstown, and their signing up leaves 175 more season tickets to be sold to meet the community challenge. If those 175 get sold before October 16 the Chiefs will donate 100 tickets to each of their seven Wednesday home games to local charities and non-profit organizations.
The 2009-10 version of the Chiefs continues to come together. With just one week remaining until the open of training camp, the Chiefs announced three additions to the roster this week. Jarrett Konkle, a high-scoring winger returns for his second season in Johnstown. Also announced this week were rookie goalie, a Calgary Flames draft pick in 2004, Jimmy Spratt and playmaking center Jason Silverthorn. After spending three seasons playing in Europe, Silverthorn will be reunited with Konkle, his college teammate at Elmira College.
Saving the best for the end of the week, the Chiefs held a press conference this morning in the lobby of the War Memorial to introduce their new coaching staff. Fans and the media got their first chance to meet with head coach Jeff Flanagan and assistant coach Jason Spence. The conference was well attended and everyone left excited to get the season underway.
Be a part of Chiefstown! The 2009-10 season starts at home on October 17 against Cincinnati. Chiefs season ticket packages are on sale right now. Don't miss out on all the great benefits of being a Chiefs season ticket holder. There are even special discounts for children, students, military veterans, and seniors. You can speak to a season ticket representative today by calling the Chiefs at 814-539-1799, or by visiting the team's office during business hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
