Chiefs Trainer to Make History

Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse Chiefs announced today that Beth Jarrett has been named the team's athletic trainer for the 2009 season. Jarrett is the first female athletic trainer in International League history and only the second woman to reach the triple-A level.

Jarrett, an Indiana native, has been an athletic trainer for the past 16 years, including the last 8 seasons in the Nationals organization. She has worked for Washington's minor league affiliates in Clinton (2002), Savannah (2003-2004), and most recently Harrisburg (2005-2008).

"We would like to welcome Beth to Syracuse. We are looking forward to having her on board and we are sure that she will continue the tradition of excellent trainers that we have had in the past," said Chiefs President Ron Gersbacher

After beginning her minor league baseball career as a bat girl for the Indianapolis Indians, Jarrett went on to attend Indiana University and graduated with a degree in Kinesiology in 1997. Jarrett started working as an athletic trainer for the Indians while she was still enrolled in college.

While Jarrett will be with the team in spring training, her first regular season duty will come on Opening Day, April 9, when the Chiefs host the Rochester Red Wings at 2:00pm.
