Johnstown Chiefs News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch, announced today that the team ranked first in season ticket renewals among ECHL teams for the week ending May 1, 2009.

"Obviously we're pleased with our early renewals. I think this is a clear indication that our fans are pleased with our new and more affordable ticket prices. Further to that, there is a lot of positive news around the team like the re-signing of Coach Herbers," said Vice President and General Manager Bill Bredin.

"We are now anxiously awaiting the release of the 2009-10 schedule so we can finalize an exciting promotional schedule and keep the momentum going forward," Bredin added.

In the second week that Chiefs season tickets were on sale the team had 76 season ticket holders renew their seats. That total was 20 more than second-place Stockton, and 63 more than the league average for the week. Johnstown also sold seven new season ticket packages last week which was tied for the fourth most in the league. Last week's efforts brought the Chiefs to 174 season ticket packages sold in two weeks; a total that is 17 percent of the team's goal for paid full season equivalents.

Chiefs season tickets officially went on sale on Monday, April 20 and in the first five days, 86 full season ticket packages were renewed. Only the Wheeling Nailers and Bakersfield Condors renewed more season tickets over the same period.
