For the first time this season, the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans will play each other as they renew their Highway 395 rivalry in the first of 12 meetings on th season. The Chiefs and Americans have never gone this far into their schedule, or calendar, before facing off as Spokane has played four games coming into Saturday night's game and Tri-City, two.
Saturday night will be Buck Night presented by Pepsi and Star @ 96.9 One of only four discounted concession nights this year, Chiefs fans will enjoy $1 Pepsi, $1 Hot Dogs and $1 Popcorn all night long courtesy of PEPSI! Bring your appetite for great hockey and great food, and enjoy the season's best food prices.
The Chiefs finished last year's season series with a 5-4-1-2 record with all five wins coming at home. The team that was outshot by the opposition was 8-3. Spokane finished the season series 15-57 (26.3%) on the power play. Chad Klassen had a team high eight goals and 16 points, including four goals and nine points on the power play. Gary Gladue, who was +3 in 11 games, scored twice and had nine points. Spokane will travel to Tri-City on Saturday, October 9th. The Americans will be back in Spokane on Saturday, November 6th.
The Chiefs are coming off a pair of losses on the road and will play just their second home game of the season, compared to three away. Spokane had a positive home debut with a come from behind win last Saturday night versus Kootenay in front of 8,243 fans. Four goals by four different players, including rookie Chris Bruton who scored his first career goal, in the third period gave the Chiefs a 4-2 win. Ned Lukacevic, Steven Gillen, Derek Ryan and Bruton, into an empty net, all scored as the Chiefs won their fourth straight home opener.
Two players could make their Spokane Arena debut this weekend as Joe Logan and Kyle Howarth have joined the team since Saturday's home opener. Logan was acquired from the Vancouver Giants and joined the team on Tuesday as Spokane played his former team. Howarth was picked up in a trade earlier in the week with Medicine Hat.

PLAYER MOVES
The Spokane Chiefs have re-assigned two players today, 18-year-old forward Jared Hough to the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL and 18-year-old goaltender Keyvan Hunt, who is awaiting reassignment. Hough had not played in a regular season game while Hunt appeared in one game, stopping five shots in 11 minutes on Tuesday night at Vancouver.
With these moves, the Chiefs have 24 players on the roster, including two goaltenders, seven defenseman and 15 forwards. By age, the Chiefs have three 20-year-olds, three 19-year-olds, seven 18-year-olds, seven 17-year-olds and four 16-year-olds. The Chiefs have 11 rookies on the roster.
