Spokane Chiefs News Release

Coming off the second longest game in WHL history, the Chiefs and Vancouver Giants will drop the puck for game six of their second round series on Sunday night at 6:00 in the Spokane Arena. Blake Gal's first career playoff goal 6:05 into the fourth overtime on Friday night gave the Chiefs a 3-2 win over Vancouver and a 3-2 lead for Spokane in the best-of-seven series.

Tickets for Sunday night are available at the Chiefs office by calling (509) 535-PUCK.

The Chiefs and Giants combined to play four overtimes on Friday night. The game began at 7:38 and ended with Gal's goal, the 123rd combined shot on goal, at 12:41 am on Saturday morning. The 126:05 of gametime fell short of the 136:56 marathon between Kamloops and Kootenay on March 25th, 2003. Kootenay won 3-2.

The Giants had a 2-1 lead going into the third period with goals by Evander Kane and Brent Regner after one and carried the lead going into the third period. Drayson Bowman tied the score with his eighth goal of the playoffs at 4:25 of the third. Dustin Tokarski stopped 62 shots and Tyson Sexsmith, 56, in 126:05 of action. Spokane's first was scored by Tyler Johnson in his second goal in as many games to put Spokane on the board in the first period.

Tokarski has stopped 119 of the last 122 shots he has faced over the past three games, good for a .975 save percentage through the span. After Regner scored at the 13:21 mark of the first, the 19-year-old was perfect through the remaining 112:44.

Friday night's game was the first in the series where the road team had won and the team that scored first, Vancouver, lost.

After dropping the first two games of the series, Spokane has won three straight versus the Giants, including two at home earlier this week.

In franchise history the Chiefs had never gone more than two overtimes.
