
Chiefs Face Portland In First Round

The Spokane Chiefs will face the Portland Winterhawks in the first round of the WHL playoffs and will have home ice advantage after finishing with the fourth seed in the Western Conference. The Winterhawks are the fifth seed.
The series will begin in Portland next Saturday and Sunday with games three, four and, if necessary, five being played in the Spokane Arena on Wednesday, March 24th, Friday, March 26th and Saturday, March 27th.
Tickets for games three and four of the series will go on sale Monday morning at 9:00 at the Chiefs office or by calling (509) 535-PUCK and through TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
The match-up will be the seventh time the two franchises have met in the post-season. Four series, including their last three against each other, have gone the distance. The Winterhawks won a nine game series in 1985-86 while the Chiefs won in 1996 after they came from a 0-3 deficit. Portland won in 1998 while the Chiefs took game seven in 2003.
Spokane will finish their regular season on Sunday night when they host the Everett Silvertips at 6:00 on the Coca-Cola Regular Season Finale. The first 3,000 fans through the gates will receive a 25th Anniversary Poster presented by XO Communications. Gates will open at 5:00.
