CHICO- The Chico Outlaws have announced the schedule for their home games in Redding, CA from August 2nd to the 7th. The trip to Redding will consist of ten games against Jose Canseco's Yuma Scorpions, while the remaining four games of the 14 game series will see the Outlaws return home to Nettleton Stadium. The game schedule in Redding is as follows:
Tues 8/2 7pm start, single game, 9 innings
Wed 8/3 Double Header, 5pm start, 2 (7) inning games
Thurs 8/4 Double Header, 5pm start, 2 (7) inning games
Fri 8/5 5pm start, single game, 9 innings
Sat 8/6 Double Header, 3pm start, 2 (7) inning games
Sun 8/7 Double Header, 3pm start, 2 (7) inning games
The ten game set is highlighted by the return of Outlaws' pitcher Jason Stevenson to his hometown of Redding. Chico's ace leads the North American Baseball League in ERA (1.52), he is tied for 4th in strikeouts (48) and tied for first in wins (6), despite getting a late start on the season and only pitching in six games. Although, we have only seen a small sample size of what Stevenson can do, what we have seen has been nothing short of amazing. The local Redding product, who has been out of baseball for six years, has taken the league by storm; in his six games, he is 6-0 with a 1.52 ERA. Stevenson is coming off the best start by any Outlaws' pitcher this season; on Thursday night, he threw 130 pitches to earn the first complete game of the season by any Outlaw, while also striking out a season high 11 batters. The resiliency Stevenson shows on the mound is a testament to his determination and will to win; in his six starts, he has pitched into the eighth inning in every single one. When asked about his high pitch count in Thursday's game, Stevenson responded, "You start off the game by counting your bullets, and I wanted to use them all." He will have his chance to unload the clip once more in game one of the series on August 2nd.
