Chico Defeats the Caps 7-2

Edmonton, Alberta- The Chico Outlaws (27-29) defeated the Edmonton Capitals (36-28) by a score of 7-2 Tuesday night. With the win, Chico sits five games back of Edmonton in the North Division's overall standings and two and a half in the second half standings.

The Chico Outlaws pounded out 10 hits in the first three innings and led the Capitals 6-1 after just 3 innings. Mike Johnson (2-2) was shaky, letting in six runs in 2 1/3 innings while only striking one batter. Mikael Ryder (4-0) got the win for the Outlaws pitching seven innings of two run baseball. In his return to Edmonton, Norm Hutchins has three hits and a run scored. The Caps Mark Okano went two for three with two runs batted in and a homerun.

"He left a change up and I just reacted and tried to put it hard into play," Explained Mark Okano about his homerun tonight, "Tomorrow, we just have to come out doing what we've been doing. We need to hit with runners on, make the plays and throw strikes."

The series against Chico will wrap up tomorrow on Wiener Wednesday with a double header that begins at 6:00 p.m. The second seven inning game is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m. After an off day on Thursday, the Capitals will begin a six game road trip in Tucson. The trip will conclude with three games in Yuma against the Scorpions. The Capitals will be back at TELUS Field on August 17th for a four game series against the Calgary Vipers.
