Chicago Wolves Receive Robby Fabbri on Reassignment
April 15, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
Center ROBBY FABBRI has been reassigned from the Guelph Storm (OHL) to the Chicago Wolves.
FABBRI joins the Wolves after the completion of his junior season with Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League. The Storm were eliminated in the Western Conference Semifinals on Tuesday to end their postseason run, during which FABBRI contributed four points (G, 3A) in nine games.
The 19-year-old forward is coming off his best OHL season on a points-per-game basis, ranking sixth in the OHL with an average of 1.7 points. He contributed 25 goals, 26 assists, a +9 plus/minus rating, and 40 penalty minutes in 30 games for Guelph, ranking fourth on the team in points despite missing 38 games. He also captured a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2015 World Junior Championship, posting six points (2G, 4A) in five games before having his tournament cut short by injury.
FABBRI compiled 171 points (80G, 91A), a +67 plus/minus rating, and 133 penalty minutes in 147 games spanning three seasons (2012-15) with Guelph. He added another 33 points (14G, 19A), a +12 plus/minus rating, and 33 penalty minutes in 30 playoff tilts over three postseasons. His 28 points in 16 postseason contests last season helped lead Guelph to the 2014 OHL Championship and earned him the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as the playoffs MVP.
The Mississauga, Ontario, native was selected by the St. Louis Blues with their first selection, 21st overall, in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
The Calder Cup Playoff-bound Wolves enter the final week of the regular season with two home games to go: a 7 p.m. Amtrak Rivalry clash Saturday against Milwaukee and a 4 p.m. game Sunday against Toronto.
