Chicago Wolves Add Three Vets with NHL Experience

GLENVIEW, Illinois - The Chicago Wolves announced Saturday that forward Tyrell Goulbourne and defensemen Jaycob Megna and Brett Lernout have been assigned to the team by the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights.

The trio, which has combined for 54 National Hockey League appearances, will be ready to go when the Wolves host their first official practice Monday morning at Triphahn Ice Arena in Hoffman Estates.

The 26-year-old Megna spent much of his childhood in Northbrook and climbed the youth hockey ladder with the Glenview Stars, Team Illinois and Chicago Mission. The fifth-year pro split the last three seasons between the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's San Diego Gulls. Last season, he posted 1 goal and 3 assists in 28 games with Anaheim along with 2 goals and 11 assists in 38 games serving as San Diego's captain.

Goulbourne, 25, appeared in two games for the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers last season, but spent most of his time with the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He contributed 9 goals and 9 assists in 63 games while ranking fifth in the league with 135 penalty minutes.

Lernout, who turns 24 Tuesday, notched 4 goals and 5 assists in 74 games with the AHL's Laval Rocket last season. Picked by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Lernout made his NHL debut on April 2, 2016, and owns 1 assist in 21 career NHL games.

The Western Conference champion Wolves open the 2019-20 season at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Allstate Arena.
