Chicago Wolves News Release
GLENVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Saturday that 12 players have been transferred to the team from the Vegas Golden Knights training camp as the Wolves prepare for their training camp that begins Sunday.
Six of the assigned players helped the Wolves capture the AHL's Central Division crown last season: Forwards Reid Duke, Tomas Hyka and Tyler Wong, defensemen Zac Leslie and Kevin Lough and goaltender Oscar Dansk. Forwards Brooks Macek and Gage Quinney, defensemen Dylan Coghlan, Jimmy Oligny and Zach Whitecloud and goaltender Zach Fucale also are headed to the Wolves' practice facility in Hoffman Estates.
All 12 players spent eight days participating in Vegas' training camp -- and eight received the opportunity to suit up for the Golden Knights in exhibition action. Duke, the first player to join the Vegas organization in March 2017, scored one goal in two games while Hyka delivered two assists in two games. Fucale posted 24 saves in Vegas' 5-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday, then Dansk notched 17 saves to earn the victory in the Golden Knights' 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Macek, Quinney, Whitecloud and Wong each appeared in one game.
The Wolves start training camp on Sunday afternoon at Triphahn Ice Arena with 34 players on the roster: 19 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders. The group includes non-roster invitee Tim Stapleton, the 36-year-old Forest Park native who produced 30 goals and 29 assists in 73 games for the Wolves in 2009-10. The training camp roster can be found at ChicagoWolves.com.
Sunday's two-hour session begins at 2 p.m. Head coach Rocky Thompson's team also will be on the ice from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. All practices are open to the public. Camp concludes with the Wolves' lone preseason game at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, versus the Milwaukee Admirals at UWM Panther Arena.
The Wolves host their 25th anniversary season home opener on Saturday, Oct. 13, against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Allstate Arena. The year-long celebration includes free parking for every game, courtesy of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Kia dealers.
