Chicago takes Sakuda in expansion draft

SAN DIEGO,CA- The San Diego Sockers had one player selected from its active roster during the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Expansion Draft that allocated players to the Chicago Storm. Chicago was able to select a maximum of 16 players from the nine current MISL team¹s rosters.

Defender Kevin Sakuda was the lone player selected by the Storm from the San Diego roster. Chicago selected Sakuda with the 7th selection. The Duke University product was one of six defenders selected by the Storm.

Sakuda, played two seasons with the Sockers in the MISL, and currently is in his second season in the A-League with the Seattle Sounders. During his tenure with San Diego, Sakuda tallied five goals and seven assists in 70 games. A very durable defender, the California native missed just two games over the past two seasons.
