"This is a game that we are not all about," said Storm Head Coach and GM Frank Klopas. "We had no intensity and we did not come ready to play. This is not the team that we are. We are a team that would come out and fight and be committed to work hard. I did not see that tonight at all. That was very disappointing. This is where we will who stands up and becomes a leader. I did not see that tonight. We have lost games before, but you could see where the team was doing some good things. Now we have to move forward with a short turnaround and do better in Kansas City. We need to be ready to play."
The KiXX scored three quick goals in the first quarter by Pat Morris, Kevin Sloan and Boney giving the KiXX an early 3-0 lead. The closest the Storm got in the game was a two-goal deficit, but after Nusum made it 6-3 with at 9:13 of the third quarter, the KiXX pulled away. Storm goalkeeper Danny Waltman leaped to knock a high ball away from Nusum, but the forward knocked the ball past the âkeeper with his arm as he jumped.
Decu tallied at 14:12 of the first quarter after Novi set him up on a restart, which cutting the lead to 3-1. Both players teamed up again at 8:44 in the second quarter when Novi found Decu, who blasted a shot past KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas, making the score 4-2.
The Storm dropped to 6-7 in the Central Division, putting the "Yellow and Black" in third-place in the division three and a half games behind the league-leading Milwaukee Wave (9-3) and two and half games behind St. Louis (8-4)
The "Yellow and Black" will board a plane for Kansas City early in the morning and then will pay a New Year's Eve visit to the Milwaukee Wave at 1:00 p.m. CT.
