Chicago Storm News Release

Chicago (Monday, November 22, 2004) – The Chicago Storm of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Chicago kicker Paul Edinger will be participating in the first kick ceremony as the Storm square off against division rival Milwaukee Wave on Friday, Nobember 26 at 7:30 p.m. CT at the UIC Pavilion. This will be the very first televised home game in Chicago Storm history and can be seen on Comcast SportsNet with Storm play-by-play announcer Kenn Tomasch calling the action with David Moxom as the analyst. The “Yellow and Black” dropped an 8-3 result to the Wave in their inaugural game on October 23. The Storm returned the favor with a thrilling 9-8 overtime win at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. This game can also be heard live on

“We are very excited to have Paul be a part of our pre-game festivities,” said Storm Head Coach and GM Frank Klopas. “He is a very accomplished young kicker in his sport and he developed his skills through soccer. It is great to have his support.”

Edinger, 26, has had a very successful career in Chicago, being the most accurate field goal kicker in team history at 77.9 percent and leading Chicago in scoring each of his four seasons in professional football while averaging 99.0 points per season, the second-highest per season average ever for a kicker over his first four years. The 5’8” 175 lbs kicker is one of only four kickers in team history to record 100 points in a season, ranking second having done so twice. Edinger is perfect for his career on 111 extra point attempts in his career, the fourth-longest streak among active professional kickers and the third-longest in team history. The fifth-year veteran has booted five game-winning field goals during his career (two in 2000, one in OT in 2002, and two in 2003) all from at least 40 yards. The Michigan State University product was the first rookie to lead the team in scoring since Kevin Butler booted a team single-season record 144 points in 1985 and matched third-longest streak in team history in 2000 by kicking a field goal in 10 straight games, the longest ever for a Chicago rookie.

Individual tickets range in price from $8 to $25 and can be purchased by calling the StormÂ’s front office (312) 226-GOAL (4625), Ticketmaster (312) 559-1212 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
