Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - In the first of many theme nights during the 2015-2016 season, the Chicago Steel will host Military Appreciation Night on Friday, November 6, when the team faces the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Faceoff is at 7:30 p.m. CST. The night, put together with assistance from the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs and local veterans' groups, will be dedicated to thanking those who are serving or have served in our nation's armed forces.

The Steel will wear special jerseys (image attached) designed and printed through a partnership with Rags of Honor, a Chicago-based organization which provides employment and services to homeless veterans. The Steel will wear the special threads with a red, white and blue Steel logo and patriotic theme during the game. Fans will be able to bid on these one of a kind, game-worn player jerseys in a silent auction during the game, with all proceeds raised benefitting the Illinois Veterans Assistance Fund (VAF).

Active military and veterans receive complimentary admission to the game as well as $3 off additional tickets for their guests.

"Through our partnership with the Department of Veterans' Affairs, the Illinois Veterans Assistance Fund and Rags of Honor, we have a special night planned to not only honor those that serve our country, but to raise funds that will directly benefit area veterans," said Steel President Dan Lehv. "Knowing that the jerseys our team will be wearing have been designed and printed by area veterans adds another layer of meaning to the event."

Prior to the game, colors will be presented by Proviso East NJROTC of Maywood, Ill., under the direction of LCDR Darryl Person. Director Erica Jeffries of the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs will take part in the ceremonial puck drop at center ice. Other activities throughout the night will take place highlighting the contribution of active military and veterans.

Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance for Friday's game. Military Appreciation Night is the first of seven November home games for the Chicago Steel. For tickets or more information, call 855-51-STEEL, visit the box office inside Fox Valley Ice Arena or logon to ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com.
