Chicago Slaughter News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES - The Chicago Slaughter (6-8), the premier indoor football team in the Chicagoland area, has received the 2010 IFL Best Fan Base Award. The franchise earned the award based on Chicago's fan-base proving to be the most enthusiastic, having the most character and energy, and providing the most overall appreciation for their team. Chicago is also the league leader in attendance, with the Slaughter averaging more than 5,000 fans per game.

"We are very excited to receive this award from the league," said Slaughter GM Alan Perkins. "It's easy to love this team with guys like Jarrett Payton, Jim McMahon and Steve McMichael leading the way. Chicago has a tremendous love for football and it showed with the support we received all year from the greatest fans in the country."

Post season play begins this weekend when the Chicago Slaughter (6-8) will face Central North Division Champions and fierce rivals the Green Bay Blizzard (10-4) on the road Saturday night in the first round of the Indoor Football League (IFL) United Conference playoff competition.

The Blizzard suffered two losses to the Slaughter earlier this season and secured their first win over Chicago when the teams met for the third and final time during regular season play this past weekend.

This Saturday will be the fourth meeting of these two fierce divisional rivals and the Slaughter is looking to redeem themselves from last weekend's loss.

Kickoff for this weekend's road game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 26th, at the Online Trading Academy Field in the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI.
