CHICAGO, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars took down the Orlando Pride 1-0, with Mallory Pugh scoring the team's lone goal.
KEY MOMENTS:
9' Mal Pugh takes advantage of a quick pass from Bianca St-Georges near the Pride's box and buries an early goal into the back of the net
11' Vanessa DiBernardo takes a shot from outside the Pride's 18-yard box that ricochets off the upper ninety in a close attempt for the Red Stars
63' Continuous pressing and a free kick by Pugh ends with multiple attempts for the Red Stars but despite best efforts, nothing finds the net
75' St-Georges challenges the Pride by taking a shot, which ricochets off the shins of the Pride's defense. The ball is recovered by Pugh, whose shot is also stopped
GAME NOTES:
Tatumn Milazzo stepped up for the Red Stars and stood out among a strong back line ranking in the top five Red Stars in shots (2), completed passes (53) and recoveries (5)
Pugh's goal in the first half kicked off another brilliant match for the Red Stars forward. She ended the night with a .48 in expected goals, highest among both teams, and led the Red Stars in shots (4), chances created (3) and crosses attempted (6)
Zoe Morse put in another strong performance tonight against Orlando. Morse was top three among Red Stars in passing accuracy (87.3) and won back possession for the home side 11 times. Morse is still among the few Red Stars that have played every minute so far this season.
