Chicago Stars FC News Release
Bridgeview, Ill. (April 13, 2009) - The Chicago Red Stars and Illinois State Soccer Association have entered into a partnership to help develop and promote soccer in the state of Illinois.
As part of the agreement, the Red Stars will team with ISSA for several events this summer. Red Stars players will appear at the 2009 Chicago Beach Soccer Tournament and the team will also participate with the USASA Regional Championships at Gaelic Park and the 2009 ISSA Hall of Fame Banquet in September.
"The Chicago Red Stars are excited to have a partner as deeply rooted in Illinois soccer as ISSA," said Red Stars General Manager Marcia McDermott. "Both organizations are committed to growing the sport and this collaboration is a strong step towards that goal."
In addition, ISSA members have exclusive access to ticket offers for the Red Stars' inaugural season. On "ISSA Night," all of the association's clubs, teams, members and referees will have the opportunity to purchase tickets at a special discounted price. The Red Stars have also established a program that will provide complimentary tickets to ISSA Hall of Fame members for every home game in the 2009 regular season.
"We are greatly honored that the Chicago Red Stars have chosen to continue the tradition of awarding Illinois Soccer Hall of Fame inductees regular season tickets," said ISSA President Branko Ilic. "It is very fitting that our inductees are part of the historic inauguration of Women's Professional Soccer in Illinois and all of us at the Illinois State Soccer Association are excited about the prospect of the Chicago Red Stars' success."
The Red Stars will play their historic home-opener at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., on Sunday, April 19th against Sky Blue FC. Festivities around the game include a performance of the national anthem by acclaimed Chicago musical artist Michael McDermott, $1 hot dogs and Red Stars "Fandemonium" - which includes face painting, poster making, Brazilian drummers and the Radio Disney road crew will be entertaining from 4-5 pm. Season tickets, starting at only $120 for 10 regular season games plus two bonus games, are on sale now. Call (866) WPS-2009 or log on to www.chicagoredstars.com to reserve your seats.
