Chicago Fire to partner with My50 Chicago on broadcasts

Chicago Fire FC News Release
BRIDGEVIEW, IL (Aug. 9, 2007) - Chicago Fire Soccer and My50 Chicago/WPWR-TV have reached an agreement to broadcast two games this season, including the Oct. 21 home finale against the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Chicago Fox affiliate will also carry the Sept. 23 contest versus D.C. United at TOYOTA PARK. The 2007 season marks the first time in team history that every game is being televised.
Playoff implications will be on the line when Eastern Conference foes D.C. United and the Fire meet in September. The "Men in Red" will also look to avenge a Fourth of July loss to the Galaxy, who have advanced to the SuperLiga semifinals.
"The Chicago Fire games, with their fast growing local following, are an attractive addition to our local programming on My50 Chicago," said WPWR Vice President/General Manager Patrick Mullen. "To also be able to carry David Beckham's first MLS visit to Chicago is an added plus."
"We are pleased to add My50 Chicago to our group of broadcast partners," said Fire President/CEO John Guppy. "These are two marquee games on our home schedule and will give us a chance to showcase MLS soccer to a broad audience."
An announcing team for the My50 Chicago broadcasts is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
