
Chicago Fire to Participate in 2019 Carolina Challenge Cup in February

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Nov. 15, 2018) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that it will participate in the 2019 Carolina Challenge Cup in February. As part of its 2019 preseason schedule, the Fire will play three matches in the Carolina Challenge Cup, facing USL side and tournament host Charleston Battery, 2019 MLS expansion side FC Cincinnati and an additional MLS team to-be-named at a later date.
Held at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, S.C., the 2019 Carolina Challenge Cup will mark the 15th staging of the tournament. The four participating teams will play in a round-robin style tournament with doubleheaders on Feb. 16, 20 and 23.
The Fire's match schedule in the tournament is listed below:
Saturday, Feb. 16:
Chicago Fire vs. TBA opponent (4 p.m. CT)
Wednesday, Feb. 20:
Chicago Fire vs. FC Cincinnati (6:30 p.m. CT)
Saturday, Feb. 23:
Chicago Fire vs. Charleston Battery (6:30 p.m. CT)
The 2019 edition of the Carolina Challenge Cup will mark the Fire's second appearance in the tournament. The Fire last participated in the annual preseason competition in 2013, and were crowned champions after defeating the Battery and the Houston Dynamo and drawing Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Tickets for the tournament are currently on sale. Single-day tickets include both matches and start at $30. Series passes include six matches across all three days of the tournament and start at $65. Tickets are available at www.tickets.charlestonbattery.com or by calling 843-971-4625.
