Chicago Fire Midfielder Marco Pappa Earns MLS Goal of the Week Nomination

CHICAGO, IL (April 14, 2010) - Chicago Fire midfielder Marco Pappa earned his first nomination of the season for the MLS Goal of the Week after scoring his first goal of the 2010 season in the Fire's 2-1 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes in front of a record Opening Night crowd of 20,276 fans at TOYOTA PARK.

Pappa's goal evened up the score at 1-1 in the 52nd minute. Patrick Nyarko created the opportunity with a run deep into the San Jose offensive third. Nyarko sent an angled pass to Collins John who laid the ball off to Pappa. In stride, Pappa ripped a 30-yard shot into the top of the San Jose net, leveling the game at 1-1.
