Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will return to league play on Saturday, Oct. 16 when the team faces the league-leading New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and TUDN 1200 AM.
Saturday's match against the Revs marks the second of three straight games on the road for the Fire, who have five games remaining in the 2021 regular season. The upcoming contest will be the third and final regular season meeting between Chicago and New England, with the previous two matches taking place at Soldier Field on April 17 and Sept. 22. Overall, the Fire hold a winning record (27-24-15) in 66 league matches played against the Revs dating back to 1998. However, the Fire will be looking for its first win at Gillette Stadium since a 2-1 victory on June 17, 2017.
New England (20-4-5, 65 points) enters the match as one of just two teams in the league to clinch a 2021 postseason berth and the only team to clinch the No. 1 seed in the conference. Additionally, the Revolution are unbeaten in their last six matches (5-0-1) and have just one loss in 14 games played at home this season (11-1-2). Forwards Adam Buksa and Gustavo Bou lead the team in goals scored with 13 apiece, while midfielder Carles Gil has a league-high 16 assists.
