Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC returns to action following a three-week break due to the FIFA international window, hosting D.C. United on Saturday, June 18. The match against D.C. United will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás, TUDN and Twitter (with English-language audio). It will also be transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio.
Saturday's match will feature performances by the Dunbar High School Drumline and the singing of the Black National Anthem as the Club celebrates Juneteenth. Chicago Bears draft pick Kyler Gordon will serve as the Club's Fire Starter, leading fans in waving their flags before the match. Burnham Downs will feature Black-owned food trucks and members of the Urban Football League, a league focused on bringing communities together through soccer and more, will be in attendance.
In what will be the 67th encounter between the two clubs, the Fire holds a slight edge at home with a 12-7-13 record, scoring 50 goals while conceding 36. In the teams' match earlier this season, goals from Stanislav Ivanov and Jonathan Bornstein propelled Chicago to a 2-0 win on March 12 at Audi Field. Following that Week 3 encounter, defender Wyatt Omsberg and goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina were named to the MLS Team of the Week after keeping the team's third consecutive clean sheet to start the season.
Both Chicago and D.C. are looking to rebound after dropping points on the road in their final match before the international break. D.C. United lost 4-1 to New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena, while Chicago fell 3-2 to Toronto FC at BMO Field.
