June 14, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Chicago Fire FC News Release

CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced that the Club's match against Atlanta United FC on Saturday, July 3 at Soldier Field will mark the debut of its full fan experience, including the lifting of capacity restrictions. The 100 and 200 sections (approx. 28,500 seats), in typical soccer configuration, will be fully available for Fire fans to purchase. The announcement comes in conjunction with the state of Illinois and city of Chicago announcing a full reopening after 15 months of coronavirus-related restrictions.

The match will mark the Fire's first match without capacity restrictions at Soldier Field since the Club announced its return to the lakefront on Oct. 8, 2019.

"This is the moment our fans, city, players and staff have been waiting for," said Fire COO John Urban. "The chance to finally showcase the full fan experience we've created inside and outside Soldier Field. We know the stadium will be buzzing with energy and passion, providing our players a special home field advantage."

Single-game tickets for all remaining matches this season will be available to the general public beginning Tuesday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m. CT. This afternoon, Season Ticket Holders will have exclusive access to additional single-game tickets for the remainder of games this season. The Fire recently announced that single-game tickets for both June games - June 23 vs. FC Cincinnati and June 26 vs. Philadelphia Union - are on sale now.

Due to a scheduling conflict with Soldier Field and the Chicago Bears, the match on Sept. 29 versus New York City FC will be played at an alternate site. Additional details on that match, including ticketing information, will be shared at a later date.

With the increase in capacity, Season Ticket Holders and Partial Plan holders will have access to their originally selected seats, which will be uploaded digitally to their accounts. Select seats located near player areas such as team benches will not be available due to league COVID-19 protocols.

Beginning on June 23, Fire fans attending a match at Soldier Field are now permitted to tailgate before the game on the upper deck of the Waldron parking lot. Parking lots will open three hours prior to kickoff. Tailgating set-ups and grills that exceed one designated parking space, as well as tailgating during the game or following the conclusion of the match are all prohibited. When entering the match, fans will be allowed to enter the stadium through any entrance and, once inside, can move freely in the concourses. Masks and physical distancing will no longer be required but will be encouraged for unvaccinated fans.

In addition to Pride Night on June 26, the Fire announced additional theme nights for matches throughout the season, including a Post-Match Fireworks Show, presented by Heineken, Kid's Day and Fan Appreciation Night, presented by 7UP. A full 2021 Chicago Fire FC themes and promotions calendar can be found below. Additional themes and promotional nights will be announced throughout the year.

The Chicago Fire Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire Football Club, will hold its second annual "RAISE for P.L.A.Y.S." fundraiser on Saturday, July 24 versus Toronto FC. The fundraising event will be dedicated to celebrating the Chicago community and raising awareness and resources to fuel the Foundation's sports-based youth and direct-service programs in our City's most under-resourced communities. Proceeds will benefit the Fire Foundation's award-winning P.L.A.Y.S. (Participate, Learn, Achieve, Youth, Soccer) Program, which aims to enhance the academic performance and development of key social and emotional (SEL) skills of elementary school students through a sports-based curriculum.

The Fire look forward to introducing fans to new stadium features including the unveiling of Burnham Downs, a pre-match tailgate hosted by the Club on the East Lawn that includes live entertainment, concessions, lawn and soccer games, video games (EA Sports FIFA), giveaways and more. Burnham Downs will debut on July 3, with a big "Day of Futbol" celebration highlighting soccer matches across international tournaments and MLS and will open five hours prior to kickoff. Additional details regarding fan experiences will be announced at a later date.
