Chicago Fire Begin Quest for Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

The Chicago Fire begin its journey for its fifth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup trophy in the fourth round of the storied tournament on Tuesday, June 16 against USL side Louisville City FC at Toyota Park at 7:30 p.m. CT. The match will be available via live web stream at www.Chicago-Fire.com.

Tickets are available via Ticketmaster, www.Chicago-Fire.com, at the Toyota Park Box Office and by calling 888-MLS-FIRE. Group tickets are available at a discounted price by calling 888-MLS-FIRE.

Fire Season Ticket Holder tickets are available on Account Manager. Tickets to the fourth, fifth and quarterfinal round are available to Fire Season Ticket Holders as part of the U.S. Open Cup Series. Recognized as U.S. Soccer's National Championship, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. In 1999, the competition was renamed to honor long-time soccer pioneer Lamar Hunt.

Since 1998, the Fire have compiled a 36-12-4 record in Open Cup play, reaching the semifinal round eleven times and the final six times. The Fire previously hoisted the coveted Dewar Trophy four times, in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.

In 2014, the Fire reached the semifinal round before falling to eventual champions Seattle Sounders FC.

Fire 'keeper Alec Kann featured the full 90 minutes and recorded six saves for Saint Louis FC on Saturday evening as the Fire's USL affiliate earned a 1-1 draw against the Harrisburg City Islanders at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Saint Louis, Mo. on Saturday evening. Rookie Kingsley Bryce started and played 45 minutes in the match.

Next up, Saint Louis FC travel to take on Sporting Kansas City in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Sporting Park on Tuesday, June 16.

Fire Homegrown rookie midfielder Collin Fernandez made his professional debut on Wednesday, June 10 when he entered in the 88th minute of Louisville City FC's road match against FC Montreal Impact. Fernandez earned the start on June 13 in Louisville's 2-0 road loss against the Rochester Rhinos.

CHICAGO FIRE PDL EARN THREE POINTS IN TWO-MATCH ROAD SWING

The Chicago Fire PDL side earned three points over the weekend in a two-match road swing.

On Saturday, Fletcher Ekern's 70th minute strike helped the Fire pull within one but Springfield Synergy FC came away the 2-1 victory at Cooper Sports complex.

Ekern again struck on Sunday, notching a brace as the Fire defeated the St. Louis Lions 2-1 at Tony Glavin Soccer Complex.
