Chicago Fire FC News Release

CHICAGO (March 3, 2014) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that the club has acquired defender Greg Cochrane from the LA Galaxy in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. Per MLS and team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Greg is a young, versatile player with a lot of potential," said Chicago Fire Head Coach and Director of Soccer Frank Yallop. "He gained valuable experience during his rookie season and we're glad to have him join our squad to provide some additional depth."

The Holland, Pa. native was selected 38th overall by the Galaxy in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft after spending the final two years of his collegiate career at the University of Louisville, where he started all 44 games in which he appeared, scoring six goals and tallying five assists for the Cardinals. Cochrane scored two goals and added eight assists in 38 games in his freshman and sophomore seasons at Virginia Tech.

In his first season as a professional, Cochrane started nine of his 12 MLS appearances for the Galaxy, and started both CONCACAF Champions League matches in which he appeared. Cochrane also appeared once in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play.

Cochrane will join the team in Los Angeles prior to the season opener against Chivas USA at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. on Sunday, March 9, at 2:00 p.m. CT (UniMas).

Single game tickets to the Fire's 17 MLS Regular Season home matches and to the July 26 international friendly against Barclay's Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur FC are now available via Ticketmaster and www.Chicago-Fire.com.
