Chicago dropped 4-1 by Walleye

Toledo, OH - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, dropped a 4-1 decision to the Walleye at the Huntington Centre in Toledo on Wednesday night.

Toledo got the scoring started early in the first period, as C Joey Martin picked up a loose puck from the side of the net and found RW Kyle Rogers open in the slot for a one-timer into the back of the net. RW Christopher DiDomenico increased the lead to 2-0 when he fired a wrist shot over the glove of G Rob Nolan at 9:35, and the Walleye took the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

After neither team found the back of the net in the second period, F Mike Embach scored 35 seconds into the third period to cut the Toledo lead to 2-1. The Walleye struck back with two goals at the tail end of the third period, including a power play goal at 15:38 from RW Trevor Parks and an empty net shorthanded goal C Byron Froese with one second left in the period for the final 4-1 score.

Notes:

D Scott Lehman played his first game for the Express after sustaining an injury during training camp... The Express have earned seven of 10 points on the road trip... RW Tyler Donati had his five game assist streak (1g-6a) snapped... After being outshot 100-54 over their last three games, the Express and Walleye each had 31 shots tonight.

The Express play one more game on the road, in Toledo, before returning home to battle the Kalamazoo Wings at the Sears Centre Arena on December 7.
