
Chicago Blaze Set To Open 2003 Season

The Chicago Blaze of the National Women's Basketball League ("NWBL") will tip off their second season on Friday, February 7, when they visit the Grand Rapids Blizzard. The Blaze will be led by #1 draft pick Dominique Canty (WNBA Detroit Shock) and Anna DeForge (University of Nebraska). DeForge was signed as a free agent after leading the NWBL in scoring in 2002. Grand Rapids will be led by guards Kelly Komara (Purdue University) and Stacey Thomas (WNBA Minnesota Lynx).
The Blaze will face the Houston Stealth, let by international superstar Sheryl Swoopes, in their home opener on Saturday, February 15th at the DePaul Athletic Center located at 2323 N. Sheffield Avenue. Game time is 7:30 pm. For ticket information, please visit www.chicagoblaze.com.
The NWBL showcases professional women basketball players across the nation; including players from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. The 2003 season will run from February through April.
