Chicago Blaze News Release

Naperville, IL - The Chicago Blaze today announced that they have hired Dave Knickelbein as their General Manager for the 2006 season. Knickelbein, who served as an assistant coach in 2005, will replace Robert Graham, who will remain with the team as Senior Vice President of Team Operations. Knickelbein will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team. He is currently lead instructor at Chicago Bulls Training Academy. Previously, he has served as a trainer of numerous NBA, CBA, WNBA, and European players, and has held coaching positions for several high school, traveling, and college teams.

?This move gives the team a lot more flexibility. There were many things that Rob (Graham) was unable to do in terms of growing the team because of his day-to-day responsibility for running the team. He has done more than I could have ever anticipated, and I am expecting bigger things from him with more time to grow the team,? said Joseph McCoy, Team President. Graham added, ?This is such a tremendous move and a sign of growth for our organization. Dave (Knickelbein) has a passion for the game and he?s located in the area year-round. Given his knowledge of our operation and familiarity with the players, it was a very easy decision for us. We know that he?ll be adding much-needed consistency from season to season. This is a very exciting time for the Blaze as we head into our next season.?

The Chicago Blaze will open their fifth season in January of 2006. They will join the reigning champion Colorado Chill, San Jose Spiders, Dallas Fury and the newest NWBL team the San Diego Siege.
