Chicago Blaze Blasts Birmingham

Naperville, IL - Ebony Hoffman had 20 points to lead five players in double figures as the Chicago Blaze defeated visiting Birmingham by a score of 89-56 on Saturday afternoon.

Chicago (12-9) built an early 34-11 lead as they cruised to a 48-20 half-time lead. The Blaze connected on 17 of 34 (50%) of their filed goals in the first half while holding Birmingham to just 9 of 35 (25.7%) shooting.

Birmingham (8-13) tried to chip into Chicago's lead as they connected on five of 10 three-point attempts in the second half. The Power, however, were held to just four points in the last 5:03 of the game.

Hoffman collected her team-leading fifth double-double of the season with her 20-point, 11 rebound effort. Keila Beachem and Tamika Catchings had 15 points and six rebounds apiece, while Keisha Anderson and LaTonya Johnson contributed 10 points apiece. In addition, Anderson dished out a game-high seven assists in the contest.

Birmingham, which has dropped six of their last seven contests, was led by Natasha Thomas, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Lededra Brown added 14 points.

The Blaze are on the road tomorrow to face Lubbock, before returning for their final home game of the season on March 25 at North Central College against the Colorado Chill.
