Harrisburg Heat News Release

HARRISBURG, PA - Tom Mellor picked up another hat trick for the Heat, but his three goals were not enough Friday night as Harrisburg fell to the undefeated Chicago Mustangs 13-7 before a crowd of 1,895 at the Equine Arena.

Mellor scored all of his goals and picked up an assist in the game's first 33 minutes before sitting out the rest of the game with a leg injury.

The loss dropped the Heat's record to 4-8 with four games remaining as they try to catch the Cincinnati Saints (4-7) and Detroit Waza (6-5) for the final two playoff berths in the Professional Arena Soccer League's Eastern Division.

The game was the first of three meetings this season between the teams with the next one coming Saturday night at the Equine Arena - kickoff is 7:05 - with the third match coming Feb. 9 in Chicago.

Miguel Vaca and Bryan Moya each had four goals for the league-leading Mustangs (11-0). Vaca scored a goal in each quarter, while Moya posted three goals in the first half and his final goal late in the fourth quarter against the Heat's sixth-attacker offense.

Heat goalkeeper Justin Johnson, making his second straight start in place of the injured Sam Bishop (left foot), was under siege most of the game, facing 26 shots from one of the league's premier offenses.

The Heat, though, did what few teams have done this season against Chicago, and that was to score seven goals in the first three quarters against a defense that began the night having allowed only 4.8 point per game.

Heat forward Chris Hall had another goal, his fourth in four games since the Lebanon Valley graduate joined the team. David Schofield added three assists for the Heat while Kenneth Fultz had a goal and an assist.

Fultz and Mellor each have a team-leading 17 goals for the Heat.
