Chicago Bandits to Host Taste of Tokyo Presented by Wilson

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits will host an Olympic preview series event from June 11-14 called Taste of Tokyo presented by Wilson, league officials announced Friday afternoon. Among the teams in the series event will be the Aussie Peppers, Canadian Wild and Cleveland Comets, the host teams for the three national teams of Australia, Canada and Mexico who will be competing in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

The series event will be rounded out with the host team Bandits and the California Commotion, the newest team to enter the NPF.

"Hosting an event like this is a gamechanger," said Jourdan Skirha, Bandits Assistant General Manager. "We have the opportunity to show off the greatest softball players in the world in a unique and exciting way. It's an honor to have that opportunity in Rosemont."

The first pitch of the four day Taste of Tokyo event is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. CT, where California will face Cleveland, followed by Chicago vs. Canada at 8:30 p.m. Prior to first pitch, fans are welcome to enjoy pre-game tailgate festivities that feature food, drinks, contests and interactive experiences with league suppliers and sponsors.

Friday, June 12, 2020 will bring Country Night to Parkway Bank Sports Complex. Canada and Cleveland will face off at 5:30 p.m., followed by Chicago and California at 8 p.m.

Australia joins the event on Saturday, June 13 with their matinee game against California. During this game, PWBSC will be hosting "So You Think You Can Dance" night, featuring youth dance troupes from the Chicagoland area. Australia will complete the double header at 5:30 p.m. against Canada, and the night will end with Chicago against Cleveland at 8 p.m.

The finale of Taste of Tokyo will start at 1 p.m. on June 14, 2020 with a face off of Canada and California, followed by Cleveland against Australia at 3:30 p.m. and finally Chicago against Australia at 6 p.m. During their game, Chicago will be wearing patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned off in support of SALUTE, Inc., a veterans organization that provides short-term financial support to post 9/11 veterans.
