Washington Glory News Release
CHANTILLY, VA.-If nothing else, the Chicago Bandits and Washington Glory may be beginning a fantastic NPF rivalry.
For the third time three days, Washington (17-7) and Chicago (10-10) battled eachother to a one-point game. This time, the Glory held on to a 2-1 victory at the Westfield Sports Complex Monday night in National Pro Fastpitch action. The Glory won the four game series three games to one.
Trailing 2-1, the Bandits had a final chance to tie or win the game in the top of the seventh inning, but Washington's Sarah Pauly would have nothing of it. Pauly (8-1) added her NPF leading eighth win of the season. She pitched a complete game for the Glory, giving up two hits and striking out six.
Pauly struck out Jamie Clark and got Nicole Trimboli to ground out. Kristie Fox had one last chance, but Fox flied out to Oli Keohohou to end the game.
The Washington Glory scored first to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a RBI single by Oli Keohohou but Chicago answered when catcher Rachel Folden knotted the game up with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Jessica Sallinger (4-3) started the game for the Bandits. Sallinger gave up four hits in 4.1 innings before being relieved by Jamie Southern with her team trailing 2-1. Sallinger walked four and struck out two.
Callie Piper recorded the game winning hit for the Glory with a RBI single off of Jamie Southern. Sallinger was still on the record after she walked Keohohou and Courtney Bures. Jessica Moore came in as a pinch runner for Keohohou and scored on Piper's hit.
The Glory loaded the bases in the fourth inning, starting with a lead off single by Catalina Morris. Morris advanced to third base off a sacrifice bunt and wild pitch.
