Philadelphia Force News Release


The Series

Over the weekend, the Philadelphia Force (14-6) concluded a series with the Akron Racers (11-9)The Force are still in first place in the NPF despite losing three of the four games. The Racers are currently in third place. This week, the Force will play a four game series at home versus the fifth place Rockford Thunder. The series will start on Wednesday, July 9, and continue until Saturday, July 12. All games will be played at ECTB Stadium in Allentown and game recaps will be available on the Force website.

For the Force, Kellie Wilkerson is still leading the team offensively. She is leading the NPF with her .489 batting average. She leads the team in hits (27), RBI (17), on base percentage (.564), and slugging percentage (.766). The two other Force players batting above .300 are Sharonda McDonald (.333) and Chelsea Spencer (.323). On the mound, Megan Gibson has been the top performer for the Force. Gibson has won four games in four appearances and has only given up three runs in 30 innings pitched. She adds 27 strikeouts and an ERA of .70. Lately, Katie Burkhart has been seeing a lot of time in the circle. The rookie has and ERA of 1.48 and leads the team in strikeouts (55).

The Opponent

The Rockford Thunder did not play this past weekend. The last game the Thunder played was against New England on June 28. Rockford is being led by Audrey Rendon, the only player that is hitting above .300. Rendon is batting .302 and leads her team with hits (19). Erin Davis is second on the team in hitting with her .290 batting average. On the mound, Allison Kime is leading the pitching staff with her four wins. Cassidy Scoggings and Megan Brown each have three wins. Brown has the lowest ERA of 2.45 and leads with her 31 strikeouts.

Force from your Home

All Force home games are available to view via internet streaming. It is not too late to purchase streaming options. The cost is $19.95/season, $8.95/month, or $3.95/game. All games can also be viewed using Game Tracker. This week, FSN will be featuring the Force's first game of the series as the NPF Game of the Week. Wednesday's game will be taped and shown on July 17 at 3:00 p.m. Thursday's game will also be shown locally on Service Electric channel 2. On Saturday, July 12, the Force's game versus Akron will be shown on Comcast. The NPF All-Star game will be televised on ESPN on July 8 at 7:30 p.m. On July 13, game two of the NPF All-Star game will be shown at 1:00 p.m.

Exciting Events

As always, the Force will feature several events throughout the upcoming series. Throughout the week, the Force will be sponsoring the Coaches for the Cure Series (Rounding the Bases While Raising Awareness). The goal is to raise awareness for various diseases while recognizing organizations that support those who are affected.

On Wednesday, July 9, the first 300 fans arriving to the game will receive free Majestic throwback t-shirts. Wednesday will also be College Night. Any college student who brings their university ID will receive an upper VIP section ticket and a food/beverage coupon for $15. The student will have the choice of either receiving a free beer or hot dog and soda with their coupon. Students will also have the opportunity to enter into a raffle to win a Force t-shirt. Wednesday will also be Lehigh Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters Night and the Player Passion will be Megan Gibson. The Force will donate their entire 50/50 to LVBBBS.

Thursday, July 10 will be Dollar Dog Night. All hot dogs can be purchased for $1. The featured Player Passion will be Coach Jen Teague and honored charity will be Saving Second Base, an organization that is focused on solving issues associate with cancer. The Force will donate their portion of the 50/50 to Saving Second Base in the name of Ashley Fogel, an 11 year-old softball player from Virginia who is battling Leukemia.

On Friday, July 11, the Force will honor another Local Treasure prior to the start of the game. The Player Passion will be Ashley Smith. The honored charity for the night will be the Autism Society of America, Lehigh Valley Chapter. Again, the Force will donate their portion of the 50/50 to this organization.

On Saturday, the Battle of the Bats will take place prior to the start of the 7:05 p.m. game. Margo Pruis will be the Player Passion. On Saturday, the Force will donate their portion of the 50/50 to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

For all home games for the rest of the year, all fans who bring a receipt for gas of $10 or more that was purchased the day of the game will receive a free upgrade to Club VIP from their purchased general admission ticket.

Camps and Clinics

The Trena Peel Elite Camp that was scheduled for July 9 is cancelled. There will still be a pitching and catching clinic on Monday, July 14. The clinic that was originally scheduled with the Rockford Thunder on July 15 has been changed; the clinic will be a Force endorsed all skills clinic. Individual lessons are also available for those interested in more one-on-one instruction. It is not too late to sign up for any of these upcoming camps!
