Checkers defeated by Gladiators, 4-1

Gwinnett, GA.-The Charlotte Checkers were defeated by the Gwinnett Gladiators by a score of 4-1 and are behind in the five game series two games to zero.

The Gladiators got the scoring started in the first period with a power play goal by Jamie Milam as he blasted a one-timer from the point that beat Checkers netminder, Chris Holt through a screen at 10:15.

During the second stanza, Brad Schell would skate into Checkers territory with the puck and deliver a nice pass to defenseman Jeff Mason would tipped it past Holt at 9:14 putting the Gladiators up, 2-0 after 40 minutes.

The Checkers scored their first goal of the series 17 seconds into the third frame when Ryan Murphy centered a pass for Justin Maiser who slammed it home cutting the Gladiators lead to, 2-1. Gwinnett would recapture their two goal advantage during a power play when Jeff Campbell fed Jim Jackson who blasted a shot between the legs of Holt at 8:06. Mason would score his second of the game at 12:55 putting Gwinnett up, 4-1 and that would be enough to give the Gladiators a victory and put them up 2-0 in the series.
