
Checkers Announce Preseason Home Game October 3

CHARLOTTE, N.C--The Charlotte Checkers announced today that they will host their closest rival, the Norfolk Admirals, for an exhibition game on Sunday, Oct. 3. The game will be the first ever American Hockey League contest in Charlotte.
The teams will square off at 1:30 p.m. at Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, N.C. Tickets are $12 for season ticket holders and $15 for the general public and can be purchased from Extreme Ice Center or Ticketmaster beginning Friday, Sept. 10. Extreme Ice Center has a maximum capacity of 1,000 and fans are encouraged to get their tickets as early as possible.
The home-and-home exhibition series will begin in Norfolk on Friday, Oct. 1 (7:30 p.m.) before moving to Charlotte Oct. 3. The Checkers will battle the Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, 12 times throughout the regular season, more than any other opponent.

The Checkers' home opener is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
