(Fort Mill, SC) - Earlier today at a press conference held at BB&T Ballpark, the future home of the Charlotte Knights, representatives from the Knights and BB&T unveiled the logos for the team's new Uptown Charlotte ballpark. The design was created by local firm Luquire George Andrews.

"Today is a great moment for the Charlotte Knights and BB&T as we unveil a key piece of our historic landmark partnership," said Knights Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer Dan Rajkowski. "Every project like this needs a champion. Our champion is BB&T. This ballpark would not be possible if not for their partnership."

Rajkowski added, "With the unveiling of the BB&T Ballpark logos today and the continued construction of our new home, we are one step closer to bringing the Knights to Uptown Charlotte in 2014."

"It's great to drive by the site and see BB&T Ballpark beginning to take shape," said Wes Beckner, president of the BB&T Charlotte Metro Region. "The excitement is building as everyone sees how accessible BB&T Ballpark will be and how it will add to the vibrancy of the area. We are all proud of what Uptown Charlotte has to offer and what it symbolizes. We believe the BB&T Ballpark logo reflects its place in the Uptown footprint and the phenomenal view fans of the Charlotte Knights will have each game."

The BB&T Ballpark logo features three different variations. The logos will be used throughout BB&T Ballpark, on team letterhead and at upcoming events at the BB&T Ballpark site. All three versions are attached to this press release and can also be found online at the BB&T Ballpark website - www.bbtballparkcharlotte.com.

"Luquire George Andrews is proud to work with the Knights and BB&T to create what we believe is a memorable logo for our city's newest landmark," said Peggy Brookhouse, President/Partner of Luquire George Andrews. "We feel the logo combines the strength of BB&T's iconic brand with the majestic Charlotte skyline, which we transformed into traditional baseball pinstripes."

Construction crews broke ground on BB&T Ballpark on Friday, September 14. The ballpark is on schedule to open in April 2014.
