Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte FC today announced the Club has signed midfielder Júnior Urso to a contract through 2024 with an option for 2025.
Charlotte FC acquired Urso's right of first refusal from Orlando City SC in exchange for $50,000 General Allocation Money (GAM) in 2025.
"We're delighted to finalize the signing of Júnior after a successful trial with us during the preseason. He came in fit and made an immediate impact on the squad in Coachella," said General Manager Zoran Krneta. "Beyond his quality on the pitch, he knows what it takes to win in this league and is an excellent locker room presence which will benefit many of our younger players."
Urso played 96 times for Orlando City in regular season play across three and half seasons where he scored 12 goals and added 10 assists. The Brazilian featured in seven playoff matches and started the 2022 U.S. Open Cup Final which Orlando City won.
Prior to playing in Major League Soccer, Urso racked up nearly 300 professional appearances in both Brazil and China. In addition to his U.S. Open Cup success, Urso helped guide SD Luneng to the Chinese Cup and Chinese Super Cup.
