Charlotte FC News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte FC today officially unveiled its Community kit by adidas ahead of the Club's inaugural 2022 Major League Soccer season kicking off on February 26 against D.C. United. The kit debuted in a commercial that aired during the post-game of Super Bowl LVI on WCNC last night and on Charlotte FC's official TikTok this morning.
The new kit will be available for purchase on Tuesday, February 15 at 9:00 a.m. ET at CharlotteFootballClub.com and the Team Store.
Consistent with the Carolina Kit revealed in December 2021, this sleek design boasts a modern look with Ally as the lead, front-of-jersey sponsor and Centene Corporation as the secondary sleeve partner.
Named the Newly Minted Community Kit, the design honors the rich history of Charlotte's Mint and the significant role the city played in minting early American currency. The kit is flooded in black and rounded out with culturally relevant graphic patterns in the neck tape and sleeve cuffs. The color story coincides with the Club's crest as "minted" also means "freshly made."
"We're very excited to launch the Newly Minted Community Kit as it celebrates our city's history and progress. It is a way to inspire the vibrant Charlotte community to embrace their own MLS club as we prepare to take the pitch for our inaugural season in 2022," said Nick Kelly, CEO of Tepper Sports and Entertainment. "We invite all fans here in Charlotte and across the Carolinas to join the party on March 5 for the biggest MLS match in league history."
"I know the fans are going to love this unique kit, which is the perfect blend of Charlotte history and adidas vision," said Andrea Brimmer, Chief Marketing and Public Relations Officer at Ally. "It's another key step as the excitement builds for the first kick in the Carolinas."
The Newly Minted Community Kit will be worn by Charlotte FC's players in select matches of the 2022 MLS season. The match against D.C. United will be held at Audi Field at 6:00 p.m., followed by the first-ever MLS game at Bank of America Stadium vs. LA Galaxy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
Tickets are on sale now through CharlotteFootballClub.com and Ticketmaster.
