CHICAGO - U.S. Under-17 Men's Youth National Team head coach Gonzalo

Segares has called up 20 players for a training camp in Sorocaba, Brazil from Sept. 29-Oct. 8. The

camp will include two matches against Brazil on Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 as part of the USA's final

preparations before the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.

The USA and Brazil have each qualified to a record 18 FIFA U-17 World Cups. The U.S. kicks off

this year's tournament against Korea Republic on Sunday, Nov. 12 and will also face Burkina

Faso and France in Group E play. Brazil drew IR Iran, New Caledonia and England in Group C.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2006 are age-eligible for the 2023 U-17 World Cup and Segares

selected 15 players born in 2006, four in 2007 and one in 2008: Charlotte FC forward Nimfasha

Berchimas.

Nine players return from the USA's successful World Cup qualifying campaign earlier this year

and eight from the Ježek Cup, held earlier this month in the Czech Republic. Segares selected

players from 12 Major League Soccer clubs, led by three from LAFC and two each from Atlanta

United FC, Charlotte FC and Inter Miami CF.

Three players come from the United Soccer League Championship: goalkeeper Duran Ferree

(San Diego Loyal SC), midfielder Matthew Corcoran (Birmingham Legion FC) and forward Bryce

Jamison (Orange County SC)

Six players are making their first U-17 appearance of the cycle and will have a chance to impress

the coaching staff ahead of the World Cup roster selection: defenders Andrew Baiera, Luca

Bombino and Shakir Nixon plus midfielders Matthew Corcoran, Diego Garcia and Adyn Torres.

Six players have been called to nine of the 11 U-17 training camps since the cycle kicked off in

November 2021: defenders Christian Diaz and Tyler Hall, midfielder Cruz Medina as well as

forwards Micah Burton, Brian Romero and Ezekiel Soto.

Eight states are represented on the roster, led by seven players from California plus three each

from Florida and Georgia
