Charlotte Eagles News Release

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles hosted the Cincinnati Kings at Waddell Stadium tonight. George Kithas scored the lone goal of the match to propel the Kings to a 1-0 victory over Charlotte in a very physical match.

The Charlotte Eagles got off to a slow start and seemed a step off through the first half; definite effects of playing four games in eight days. Cincinnati scored the only goal of the match just ten minutes in. George Kithas picked up a rebound from about six yard out for the easy goal off a close range shot.

The Eagles improved in the second half, but not enough to score the equalizer. Second half subs seemed to give the team some life. Cincinnati played a very physical game, which did not play in favor of the weary Charlotte team.

"That team is just one physical team. I think the most physical in the league. They just hit us every time they had the opportunity, and we were picking ourselves up more than we were playing soccer. After four games in eight days I think we need some rest to get back on track" commented Eagles Head Coach Mark Steffens

The Charlotte Eagles will head to Cincinnati this week for a rematch against the Kings on July 9th. Charlotte's next home game will be on Wednesday, July 13th at Davidson College - Alumni Stadium when the Eagles host CD Chivas USA of Major League Soccer in the third round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Tournament. Tickets for the match are limited so purchase in advance and save $2.00/ticket. Tickets can be purchased online at www.CharlotteEagles.com or call the Ticket Line: (704) 841-8644 x 32.
