(Washington, Pa., July 1, 2005) - The Harrisburg City Islanders extended their club record unbeaten streak to seven games on Friday night with a 1-1 tie against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Falconi Field. Steve Fisher scored Harrisburg's goal and Bryan Hill, making his first appearance in nearly two months, had a solid night between the pipes.

The tie also allowed the City Islanders (6-3-3, 21 points) to wrap up the season series with the Riverhounds with a 2-0-1 record. The final regular season game between the clubs comes on August 6 in Harrisburg.

After a scoreless first half, the City Islanders struck quickly in the second. In the 49th minute, midfielder Matt Tanzini - once again playing the role of second half sparkplug - worked down the middle of the field and laid the ball off to his right for Steve Fisher. Fisher housed his shot from 12 yards out, beating ‘Hounds keeper Chris Robinson to the far post.

Tanzini later nearly created a game-winning goal in extra time when his cross landed on the foot of Chad Severs, whose rocket shot forced Robinson to make a diving save. Severs also put a blast over the crossbar with roughly 15 minutes to play.

Pittsburgh's goal came in the 69th minute from Vincente Bastidas, who beat Hill with a beautiful 30-yard volley. Hill, who had not played since May 7, capably handled numerous other challenges from the ‘Hounds, who failed to find the decisive score despite a fine second half performance.

The City Islanders, who completed a difficult three-game road swing with a 1-0-2 mark, return home next week for yet another big match, as the third-place Wilmington Hammerheads visit Skyline Sports Complex on Saturday, July 9 (7:05 p.m. kickoff).

"We needed to get three points out of this game, so a tie is a bit disappointing," said Harrisburg Head Coach Bill Becher. "We had a lot of chances that we didn't finish tonight. Still, we come home with a point, and now we get ready for next weekend."

Notes: Midfielder Ryan O'Neill, signed by the club this past week, made his debut in the 61st minute...The City Islanders were without goalkeeper Dave Kern (knee), midfielders Steve Custer (ankle), Mo Oduor (knee), David Schofield (knee), and Jimmy Stone (knee).
