(Nashua, NH, Aug. 14, 2006) Nashua Stars and Bars Charity Softball Challenge ended in a 20-20 draw before a festive crowd at Historic Holman Stadium to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Nashua.

Modeled after the MTV Rock N'Jock softball game, the challenge featured two teams, Butch Hobson's All-Stars versus Glenn Murray's MVPs made up of Pride players/coaches and bartenders/wait staff from Nashua's favorite watering holes: Penuche's Ale House, Cattleman's, The Peddler's Daughter, Martha's Exchange and The Garden.

The game ended up being quite the pitcher's duel with both squads combining for 39 hits the the runs coming early and often. After falling behind 4-1 after the first inning, Murray's All-Stars came roaring back in top of the second when Pride pitcher Dan Reichert belted a deep 3-run home run to tie the game up at four. Back-to-back jacks by Pride players Mark Brown and Elliott Ayala pushed Butch's All-Stars back in front 9-4 in the bottom half of the second.

But, Murray's MVPs were not done yet as their bats were just heating up and they proceeded to put up a 10 spot over the next two innings. In the fourth, a controversial call by home plate umpire and Pride DH, Larry Bethea, looked to quell the MVPs' rally as he ruled that Chris Hall's apparent home run was, in fact, a ground rule double. But, Hall, VP of Baseball Operations, and Penuche's Brandon Laws did end up scoring later on Reichert's 2-run double and the MVPs finished the inning with a 14-10 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Bryan Duplissie helped Butch's All-Stars tie it up with a homer and the All-Stars would eventually go on top 16-15 heading into the sixth inning. Bellavance Beverage's TJ Ebol pushed the MVPs back in front with a 2-run blast of his own in the top of the sixth. It looked like Vince Davis' 2-run long ball in the top of the seventh had put the game to bed with Murray's squad ahead 20-16 as the game went into the bottom and the final seventh inning.

The last at-bat for Butch's All-Stars proved to be a fortuitous one as timely hitting and favorable calls allowed them to squeeze out the runs necessary to rally to a 20-20 draw with Murray's MVPs and wrap up a memorable and fun evening at the ballpark.

Nashua is back in action tomorrow night with New England Revolution' s Michael Parkhurst, the 2005 MLS rookie of the year, making a special appearance as the Pride takes on the Worcester Tornadoes at 7:05 PM on Tuesday, Aug. 15. Every Tuesday game is Ladies Night with one female getting in free with one paid adult admission. Also, Red Sox / Yankees ticket and Steve Miller Band concert ticket giveaways are planned for tomorrow's game.
