Cleveland Charge News Release
The Canton Charge, presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, have announced a series of roster moves today. The team has acquired forward James Singleton and forward Maurice Kemp, and waived forward Steve Weingarten. The Charge roster now stands at 12, with 10 active players, one on the inactive list and one Cleveland Cavaliers player on assignment.
Singleton (6'8", 230, Murray State) is a five-year NBA veteran who has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards. In 243 career NBA games (19 starts), he has averaged 3.9 points on .462 shooting with 3.7 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per game. Singleton also brings international experience to the Charge, having played professionally in Italy, Spain and China.
Kemp (6'8", 190, East Carolina) most recently played with Alba Fehervar (Hungary) in 2013-14 and in 18 games, averaged 14.6 points on .511 shooting with 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 25.0 minutes per game. In his 65 career games at East Carolina, he averaged 15.0 points on .492 shooting with 7.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.0 block in 29.2 minutes per game.
Weingarten played in 21 games with Canton this season and averaged 3.1 points on .419 shooting with 1.8 rebounds in 13.0 minutes per game.
Canton stays home for a pair of games this weekend, beginning Friday, January 30th at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Maine Red Claws (Boston Celtics affiliate) for Dollar Dog Night presented by Sugardale! The Charge will then host the Erie BayHawks (Orlando Magic affiliate) for Cavs Night on Saturday, January 31st at 7:00 p.m. for a contest that features a Cavs t-shirt giveaway, special Cavs jerseys to be auctioned off in-game, Cavs Legends, Cavalier Girls, the Scream Team, and more!
